If you haven’t already made the switch from your all-season tires to winter tires, get into Quanz Auto Body for new “shoes.” Here’s why…
All-Season Are not for All Seasons
Despite their name, all-season tires are not well suited for winter driving conditions. Winter tires are specifically engineered to remain pliable in colder temperatures, and their tread patterns provide much better traction when driving over snow, ice and other potential road hazards.
The Best Time to Switch
Recommendations for switching from all-season to winter tires varies. Some say use winter tires from Thanksgiving to Easter. However, because the weather is so variable, it’s better to use a temperature gauge rather than time. So, the best time to switch is when temperatures are consistently 40° or lower.
There’s still some room for debate here—40° during the day or night? At Quanz Auto Body, we say night—because when temperatures are nearing freezing, bridges and overpasses tend to be even cooler, and so they can start to ice up. And that’s exactly what you need winter tires for—improved traction on ice.
In the greater Albuquerque area, we’re already experiencing nightly lows in the 30s. So, if you haven’t already switched to winter tires, come in to make the switch now. For the fastest service, contact us to schedule an appointment.
